Woman must pay for slashing wheels

Unable to physically confront her ex-boyfriend a 26-year-old woman decided to slash two tires on the car that he was using in order to “get back at him”.

Now Janelle Shavonne Wynne, of Odessa McClean Dive, St Michael must pay $313 in compensation by April 30 in order to fix the damage she caused on February 18. The vehicle belongs to her former boyfriend’s current girlfriend.

Officer Kenmore Philips revealed in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court this afternoon that Wynne and her ex-boyfriend, who reside at the same residence, were involved in an argument last Thursday. She committed the act soon after.

When Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant asked Wynne whether she had anything to say in her defence she said “yes”. She then explained that she was getting ready for work when “he come quarrelling . . . cussing me and getting on”. She said in a bid to drown out his ramblings, as her child was sleeping, she shut her bedroom door but, “He kick down the door and he rush in the bedroom at me and hit me and carrying on.”

She added: “I know I can’t fight with he, so I slashed it [the tyres] to get back at him. Over a year now I am trying to get him out of my house. It is my mother’s house.”

The ex-boyfriend was also in court today and he told the magistrate, “I help put money in the house. I give . . . money to buy lumber.”

The magistrate then ordered that Wynne pay compensation for the damage.
