Update: Delayed Trinidadians make final preparations to leave Barbados

After being delayed by another round of testing, Trinidadians anxious to head home are now making final preparations to board their chartered flight.

The group of 33 Trinidadians had arrived at the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) early this morning to board the first of two One Caribbean flights to Port of Spain. However, they were delayed as health authorities informed them they would have to undergo a final round of testing for COVID-19 at the Paragon facility.

A few moments ago, at least a dozen of the nationals returned to the GAIA and told Barbados TODAY they were cleared by authorities and proceeded to make final preparations to depart the island.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh says the group is also expected to be screened and quarantined when they arrive home.

The 33 nationals, who were on a vacation cruise in Dubai before they made their way home via England, were left stranded in Barbados on March 23, one day after the T&T Government closed the border.
