Court Local News Duo at Dodds following fracas over money for sex Barbados Today11/06/20203613 views Adrian David Bourne and Clifton Robert Greene Two men who caused a disturbance at Strathclyde Road, St Michael on Monday over an alleged, “sex deal” not fully honoured, are now at HMP Dodds. However, one is serving a six-month sentence and the other is on remand awaiting his fate pending a pre-sentencing report. Clifton Robert Greene, a 55-year-old from Strathclyde and 29-year-old Shawayne Adrian David Bourne, of 3rd Avenue, Licorish Village, St Michael pleaded guilty to causing the disturbance in the mentioned community on June 8. The two also pleaded guilty to separate charges of having offensive weapons in a public place – Greene a cutlass and Bourne a knife. Magistrate Graveney Bannister heard from Sergeant Edwin Pinder that the men went to an undisclosed area in Strathclyde where arrangements were made to have sex at a fee of $50. The act was reportedly performed but Greene was short $10 and agreed to pay Bourne the balance later that day. But the older man apparently left the area without informing Bourne and the younger man went to his residence demanding the balance. As a result, Greene ran out of his house with a cutlass and Bourne armed himself with a knife. During the heated exchange stone-throwing also got in the mix before the police were called in. Addressing Bannister in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court this morning, Bourne disclosed that “people like” Greene were trying to “make me look like an idiot”. He revealed: “He paid me $40 for anal sex. He said he would get the $10 before curfew time and I waited. He carried me to a rum shop playing cards [and] he got up and left without saying anything.” Bourne said his co-accused had taken him to his house before and so he went there for the balance of his money. “He came out with a sword at me and I pulled out my knife,” Bourne added before the accused gave his version of the incident. “I never made any agreement with this guy Bourne who accuse me of having sex with him. He came in front my house saying I owe him money for having sex with him . . . I lost my cool and produce a machete,” said Greene who has six previous convictions. Among them, one for indecently assaulting another man in 1994 for which he received prison time, another in 2011 for having an offensive weapon in a public place without lawful excuse and causing a disturbance in 1993. After hearing the two sides Magistrate Bannister sentenced Greene to six months in prison and remanded Bourne until July 8 for sentence, pending the probation report.
