UPDATE: Nation photojournalist among two killed

A Nation photojournalist was attacked and killed this afternoon by an unknown assailant while covering the death of an unidentified victim on the heavily wooded grounds of Bishop’s Court, the derelict former residence of the Anglican Church bishop from which the major City artery on Collymore Rock gets its name.
Photographer Christoff Griffith was confirmed by police as having been killed on the scene. The assailant was apparently still in the area when Griffith attended the scene. The other victim was identified as Glenroy James of Grazettes St Michael.
Barbados TODAY understands that workers on the site of the ruins removing asbestos may have disturbed a vagrant who attacked and killed one of them. Griffith apparently arrived on the scene before police and he, too, was attacked.
In a statement of condolence on the fallen media worker, the Association of Caribbean Media Workers (ACM) said it “condemns this and all other ruthless forms of attacks on journalists and the media throughout the world.
This incident highlights the vulnerability of media professionals and calls for greater vigilance by all when out in the field.
We call for swift action in apprehending the perpetrator responsible”.
