Fallen Mahogany tree causes extensive damage at Deighton Road

Residents of Deighton Road, St. Michael narrowly escaped death or serious injury when part of a massive Mahogany tree came tumbling down, around 9 a.m. this morning.

A wood and wall house was extensively damaged and a silver Suzuki Swift was totally destroyed minutes after a 33-year-old woman disembarked with her seven month old baby.

Officials from the Barbados Light and Power Company Limited disconnected the electricity as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, a team from the Ministry of Transport and Works is surveying the damage along with those living near the scene.
