Local News News MP Thorne praises Red Foundation charity drive Barbados Today Traffic17/11/20201150 views The Red Foundation completed the second leg of their virtual fundraiser Walk the Talk – Walk as One on Sunday morning. Cultural Ambassador and Patron of the foundation, Stedson “Red Plastic Bag” Wiltshire walked from the Grantley Adams International Airport to Sky mall, in the second part of the journey that will take him from St. Philip to St. Lucy. It is part of an effort to raise funds to help Barbadian families in need over the holiday season. He was accompanied this week by a group of supporters including Christ Church South MP Ralph Thorne, Stephen Lashley, members of COSCAP, George Griffith, Admiral Nelson, Teshia Hinds, Mahalia and Kris from 2 Mile Hill and Dale Forde. MP Thorne who is supporting the charity walk for the second week in a row said, “The walk has been a good lesson in what community should be about.” He added that it was a tangible lesson of what love, compassion and generosity should be about. He urged the Red Foundation to keep up the good work and said he was glad to see people supporting the effort in a non-partisan way. In observation of COVID-19 protocols, Wiltshire will Walk the Talk alone, but has challenged celebrities, politicians and other public figures to go part of the distance with him. Barbadians can join in on the virtual walk through the Facebook and Instagram pages of the Red Foundation at @redfoundationbarbados and are encouraged to give generously either at the end of each leg of the walk, through www.kellmart.com, via the GoFundMe page set up in the name “Red Foundation”, or they can donate to the Red Foundation account at Republic Bank. Wiltshire added that there will also be barrels set up at Emerald City, Carlton & A1 and Massy Stores so supporters can donate food items for needy families. Walk the Walk – Walk As One continues next Sunday, November 22nd at 6 a.m. with the third leg going from Sky Mall to Lancaster. (PR)
