Bayview Hospital limits visits

Bayview Hospital is tightening restrictions for patient visitors in light of the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in Barbados.

Hospital administrator Julie Reid said in a statement that effective immediately all visits will be suspended.

However, there are exceptions for the following categories of patients.

“ Paediatric patients, one parent and or guardian will be allowed to remain with the patient around the clock.

“Maternity partner, once negative COVID-19 PCR test is documented, will be allowed to remain with the patient around the clock.”

“There will be no entry to Bayview Hospital for any person not on official business,” the statement said.

In the meantime, Bayview said its nursing team and physicians will provide patient updates via phone and facilitate video calls with patients via various technologies where possible.

Reid said the policy will be reviewed and possibly adjusted as the hospital receives further updates from the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
