Local News Bostic on COVID-19 surge: ‘This too shall pass’ Barbados Today21/01/2021368 views The Minister of Health on Wednesday urged Barbadians to remain confident in his ministry and its personnel in the fight to stem a surge in coronavirus infections. At a COVID-19 press conference, Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic said Barbados is not the only country grappling with a surge, and with the efforts of officials over the last two weeks to help bring the numbers down with success, Barbadians have no reason to panic. He said: “There will be surges at times – this is happening all over the world. It is up and down, so it’s not a matter of losing control, the protocols we have, have worked very well for us. “The method of contact tracing and testing continues to be successful and useful – we have a particular problem that we are dealing with, [but] I would like to assure all Barbadians that the team is on top of this. “No matter how difficult the challenge is, we will overcome, we have demonstrated that over the last several months when countries were experiencing what we are experiencing right now. “This too shall pass because we are going to wrestle it to the ground, and that is what we have been doing.” Lt. Col. Bostic also promised that in the coming weeks, Barbadians will see clearly the clear and positive results that the latest outbreak is fully under control, with the surge either ended or on its last legs.
