Government to offer assistance to small businesses during the lockdown

Government is aware that the national pause and closure of most businesses, scheduled for the period February 3 to 17, will negatively impact some small village shops, vendors, canteen, and food van operators. 

Therefore, in an effort to render some financial assistance to these small businesses, wherever possible, is requesting those owners seeking financial assistance to contact the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs of the Ministry of Energy, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Warrens Office Complex. Warrens, St. Michael, by calling 535-7000, or emailing commerce.smallbusiness@barbados.gov.bb. 

Business owners will be required to provide the department with the following information: name of the owner; name of the business; type of business; address of the owner or the business; telephone number and email addresses, if applicable; and a bank account number. (BGIS)
