BDF soldier to face court martial

The Barbados Defence Force (BDF) will convene an Ordinary Court Martial, in the Hodgson Hall Conference Centre (HHCR), St Ann’s Fort, the Garrison on Monday, April 19 at 9 a.m.

The accused, Private Shane Coulthrust, is charged with six counts of Conduct to the Prejudice of Good Order and Military Discipline contrary to Section 75 of the Defence Act CAP 159, one Count of Disobedience to Standing Orders contrary to Section 47 of the Defence Act Cap 159 and one Count of Disobedience to a Particular Order contrary to section 45 of the Defence Act Cap 159.

He will be represented by his personal attorney.

The panel will comprise of the President, Lieutenant Commander Fernella Cordle and the Members are Lieutenant Commander Robert Morris and Captain Randolph Clarke.

The Waiting Members are Lieutenant Coast Guard Gordon Maxwell and Captain Len Cummins.

The Prosecutor is Captain Neville Corbin and the Judge Advocate is Lieutenant Commander Rita Evans.

There are five spaces allocated to members of the general public and two spaces allocated to members of the media.

The space allocation for members of the media will be rotated daily and a proceedings summary will be issued to the members of the media.

The BDF investigates all allegations against its members and will continue to hold them to the highest of standards of discipline and integrity.
