Local News Frustrating queues for car registration to end soon, Mottley says Randy Bennett23/04/20210223 views Long queues and waiting times at the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) and the Licensing Authority should soon be fixed, Prime Minister Mottley, said Thursday, acknowledging that the current state of affairs at the agencies was untenable. Motorists looking to register their vehicles had to deal with long lines this week at the BRA’s office in the Pine owing to a technical malfunction. “Let me address an issue that is of concern and that is the issue that people in this country are experiencing at the Licensing Authority and BRA to get their cars licensed,” Mottley said in a national broadcast. “It is unacceptable. “The total applications that are still outstanding have literally been sent to us and we have been tracking it now over the last few days. We are hoping to automate systems in the next six weeks. We’ve received a proposal to look at doing it that way but the bottom line is that in many instances applications may be incomplete. “In some instances, I think there was some activity that we really did not like to see happening and I’m waiting a fuller report on that, I say no more on that for now, and that I expect that this matter will be resolved fully in the next few weeks as we’ve had to wrestle down other issues literally ministry by ministry or department by department with respect to aged areas.” (RB)
