Robber fools no one dressed as woman, makes off with CIBCFC cash

Police Thursday night were probing a bizarre lunchtime bank robbery in which a man dressed as a woman made off with cash from a Wildey bank.

The man was apparently outfitted in a red dress, straw hat, mask, sneakers and a handbag when he walked into the CIBC First Caribbean Bank, said police spokesman Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss.

Eyewitnesses and area closed-circuit video backed up sightings of the “woman” who apparently did not do not a good job of concealing gender.

At around 12.15, the culprit walked up to a teller and handed her a note demanding cash and its denominations, he said.

The teller followed her training and handed over some money to the robber who put it in a bag and walked out of the bank, the police spokesman said.

The sum of cash taken was not disclosed.

No physical injuries were reported, Inniss said, and no mention was made of arms used to commit the crime.

Police have appealed to the public for information on the robbery on the police emergency hotline at 211.
