Trio in custody after police operation in St Thomas

One woman and two men were arrested last night after a routine police operation on Thursday night.

According to Police Public Relations Officer, Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss, a police unit conducting a standard operation along Melrose Road, St Thomas around 7:15 p.m. signalled a car to stop, with the use of sirens and the flashing beacon.

The driver however refused to stop and a brief chase ensued, ending along Welches Terrace, St Thomas.

Police said an occupant got out from the back seat of the vehicle, “holding a suspicious object while pointing it in the direction of police. Police took evasive action and in an attempt to defend themselves, one shot was fired. As a result, the rear windshield was damaged. No one was injured.

The three occupants of the car were taken into custody and the vehicle seized.

Investigations are continuing.
