Dust Haze advisory in effect for Barbados

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has advised that a Dust Haze advisory is in effect for Barbados.

In a statement this morning, Deputy Director (Ag) Brian Murray said:

“A layer of moderate dust haze is currently affecting the island and the marine area. Varying concentrations in dust haze are expected to remain across the island for the remainder of the week.Persons with respiratory issues or allergies must travel with, or have close at hand, all prescribed relevant medications in case of an emergency. Marine users should stay close to shore, particularly if GPS is not in use on vessel. Closely monitor forecast for critical updates.”

A dust-haze advisory is issued when dust haze has already or is forecast to reduce visibility to between 5 to 10km within 36 hours.
