Gamble taking chance at trial

A St Michael man has opted to go on trial on a charge of indecently assaulting a young girl.

Jabari Kenrico Gamble, of St Paul’s Avenue, Bayville, St Michael, is accused of committing the act on February 2, 2011.

When the matter came up for hearing before Madame Justice Wanda Blair on Friday, he was arraigned and pleaded not guilty.

Crown Counsel Joyann Catwell, who is prosecuting the case with her colleague Crown Counsel Keith Robertson, informed the defence team of Marlon Gordon and Meshach Thornhill that they were ready to proceed to trial. Gordon said his side was also ready with the ten-year-old case.

The acting judge then set June 23 as a possible date for the trial, to commence in the No. 5a Supreme Court.
