Local News CPAs to focus on remote work Barbados Today Traffic25/06/20210332 views Even before the pandemic, working remotely was on the upswing and, today, it’s ubiquitous for many workers. However, coaching and supporting a remote workforce comes with many challenges, which were explored in two presentations of the free live webinar Coaching and Supporting Your People Remotely hosted by Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) for its international members on June 23. The webinars were led by Jennifer Gervès-Keen, a corporate executive coach and author of Show Up Like a Coach. Named by CEO Today magazine as one of the top 100 outstanding consultancy experts, Gervès-Keen discussed why, now more than ever, coaching is the key to organisational success. “The session focused on the importance of having a coaching mindset, so you engage team members with curiosity, empathy and non-judgement,” said Gervès-Keen. “If you can nurture adaptability, resilience and a learning culture, you will succeed in any work environment.” “CPAs are often in leadership positions, so it’s great to be able to offer them a learning session that will help them succeed as coaches and mentors,” said Nikita Bayne, Chair of the CPA Canada Barbados Chapter Advisory Council. Two live presentations were held to make the webinar more readily available to those in differing time zones. In total, more than 260 CPAs from over 31 countries participated in the event. “Just as technology has facilitated employers’ ability to support a remote workforce, it also allows us to continue to provide valuable information sessions for our international members,” explained Janet Treasure, Senior Vice President, External Relations and Business Development, CPA Canada. “Wherever they are located globally, supporting individual members helps strengthen our profession.” (PR)
