Barbados partners on COVID-19 testing

Barbados has partnered with a global digital health system, to provide COVID-19 testing services for travellers from the United States to Barbados.

According to a statement released by Azova, a company describing itself as a digital health platform, providing a turn-key solution with automated onboarding, network management, credentialing tools, and management of clinical programmes, said it will provide the coronavirus testing service.

The Alpine, Utah headquartered company, which was formed in 2014, noted that American travellers can also request a concierge to arrive at their home, office or hotel to complete the required PCR nasal swab prior to arrival on the island. Barbados’ COVID-19 travel protocols insists on a nasal COVID-19 test three days prior to arrival on the island.

For quarantine release and return testing, Azova said in the statement it was partnering with “all the major testing providers in Barbados”. The company noted also that the on-island testing service is available at hotels, residences, businesses, and a network of certified labs.

Craig Hinds, interim chief executive officer of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) was quoted as saying: “This partnership represents a step in the right direction as we continue to qork on innovative ways of increasing safe travel to Barbados.”

He added: “This digital platform expands the options of travellers from the United States, one of our key source markets.”  (IMC1)
