Barbados is now home to a 24-hour television station broadcasting wholesome, Christian and family-friendly local and international content.
The Greatness Channel Network was launched on Thursday evening at Divine Visitation Assemblies’ Roebuck Street, Bridgetown sanctuary.
Founder of the church, Ambassador Dr Andre Thomas, said the start of the channel was the realization of a vision that came to him almost 18 years ago.
“God gave me a prophetic dream in which I saw that in a season of God, the ministry that he had given me to lead would be given a television network, and I saw different parts of the world being impacted by this network and that this network would start in Barbados.
“I tried to start it back then, but the timing was not right. So, I put it on pause until the timing was right, and in 2019, I perceived that it was time to move on this, so I started having meetings, one thing led to another, and God brought all the pieces together,” he explained.
Thomas said the station was going to be a “message station”, focused solely on getting the Word of God throughout the world and “unlocking greatness in people, nations, economies and churches”.
“We will have local and international content,” he added.
The programming will include the regular Wednesday and Sunday services from Divine Visitation Assemblies, along with the Millennial Ministry’s Mining the Gold Movement, an original production that combines a talk programme and preaching that “mines gold in millennials”.
The Greatness Channel will also feature The Rise, a daily morning series of 30-minute conversational devotions that will provide anecdotes and perspectives on the influences and moments in the Word of God that tie into today’s reality. The channel will also deliver on current affairs with The Greatness Channel News daily broadcast, catering to and covering news across the global network.
The Greatness Channel will be launching an app next week, which will feature a 24-hour radio station, along with its own social media network.
“Google has already accepted the app and it has gone to Apple as well, and eventually it will become as readily available as Netflix. The social media element, named Be Great, will enable users from all over the world to post comments and pictures, and we will have a Greatness App day to commemorate its launch,” Thomas explained.
CEO of The Greatness Channel, Dr Christopher Walton, said he believed it would be a platform for “a diverse community of Christians in the region and throughout the world, from young to old, with the various shows and programming that will impact people on every level with the shows, music content and with the introduction of Greatness Radio”.
The Greatness Channel is a commercial-free Global IPTV Network broadcasting Christian and wholesome family-friendly content accessible on most internet-connected devices, and available on mobile apps Android, IOS, Google Play, iTunes, Amazon Appstore, and mobile TV apps, such as Roku, Amazon for TV, Apple TV, Android TV, and Samsung Smart TV. It will cater to a potential audience of 250 million people worldwide. (DH)
