Two men in custody following supermarket robbery

Two young men are in police custody in connection with a robbery at Saving Plus Supermarket, Rock Dundo, St Michael on Thursday afternoon.

Police Public Relations Officer Rodney Inniss disclosed that the 21-year-old and 26-year-old suspects, whose identities are being withheld until they are charged, were apprehended soon after the incident.

According to preliminary investigations, two men entered the supermarket with a firearm and a cutlass and robbed people in the establishment of an undisclosed sum of money.

Inniss said police searched the surrounding area and apprehended two men of interest.

“We recovered a firearm and a cutlass and those persons are in custody,” he said.

Eyewitnesses said they saw two men dressed in black, with weapons, leaving the facility.

Inniss praised the public for its assistance and urged citizens and business owners to remain vigilant.

He said: “ [We] are happy to hold those two suspects before they made their escape.

“We encourage the public to be safe in their day to day operations, to be constantly aware and to be focused on crime prevention techniques asthey go into the weekend.” (BT)
