No mandatory vaccines for UWI

The University of the West Indies (UWI) will not be requiring staff or students to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

That word from Principal of the UWI Cave Hill Campus, Professor Clive Landis who made it clear that the university is not in favour of mandatory vaccination.

However, he said, the UWI administration would be making the jab available to those on campus who require it.

“There  is going to be a vaccination campaign this Thursday and next Thursday on the campus for all students and all staff…that will be using the Pfizer vaccine, and I want people to know that  the university is making that available,” he said during the third in a series of town hall meetings on COVID-19 testing and vaccination,” he said.

The university principal sat on a panel that included Acting Prime Minister Santia Bradshaw, president of the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners Dr Lynda Williams, head of the Harrison Point Isolation Facility Dr Corey Forde. and Acting Attorney General Wilfred Abrahams. (KC)
