#BTSpeakingOut – The cracks are widening

The cracks in the Government are widening. There were always cracks. Assigning two ministers to each ministry might give them each a payday, especially when some had no other visible means of gainful employment other than being professional politicians. But to ensure loyalty the virtue of respect must be thrown into the equation at some stage. Has this been done? Ask the departed and those at the bus stop on Roebuck Street waiting to depart.

Micro-management is disrespectful. Despite a massive majority, giving ministries to senators with no track record, no notable achievements and nothing special to offer [as has been shown] is a no-no to the numbers who faced the electorate and won.

The tactic has been employed before but not with a pool of so many available elected numbers.

The demotion of senior party members to the political netherworld is unacceptable. Thus, there will be more resignations and perhaps a few defections.

I suspect that another record is in the making. A party wins all 30 seats in one election but loses the government in the very next general election. This administration is a one-term government begging to happen. And no amount of public relations, media absorption, media muzzling or media back-patting, might stop the season of discontent from ushering out this government of one.

Fixing a few roads and giving people temporary jobs cleaning and weeding the roads is a gimmick as old as the hills.

I am thankful the people are earning in these tough times but this is 2021 and what many might not have gauged in the 1960s and 1970s, they surely must see now.

The era of corn beef and biscuits is long gone. This is NOT who we are.

The Government has stumbled at many junctures and six press conferences of sound and fury per week signifying nothing, will not plaster over the political sores.
