Speaking Out #BTSpeakingOut – St James South but can he get it done? Barbados Today Traffic12/11/20210208 views The views and opinions expressed by the author(s) do not represent the official position of Barbados TODAY. by Warren Lemon That is the campaign slogan of our former comrade as he now embarks on his journey to convince the people of St. James South that he is people-centered and genuine and that his critiques of government have come from a genuine place. By all means Get It Done captures exactly what his motive is, try to get to parliament by any means . . . Get it done! The reality in serving people is that it must be of the people. One simply cannot spend one’s whole time away serving one’s own interest and book a return flight and expect constituents will endorse you as being of “interest of them and not self”. Having failed to win a nomination in St. James South prior to the 2018 election, that message was sent, instead of settling and committing to service of people, hopscotch was played searching for any door that may have had a seat or appointment behind it. The same rings true for this candidacy on the Dems ticket as…. The story of self-interest is magnified. Failing to be considered for St. George North or anywhere they believed to be an opening… our former comrade has now laid that naked ambition on the Dems. The lessons of the nomination defeat will ring true again, it must be about the people. Capable of an eloquent speech, he will do his utmost to convince many of you that his new found opinions of the members of government are genuine, they are bitter at best. Against a party that so fundamentally enabled his ambitions in his early years while he was a devout student of the late Professor Owen Arthur. Against a party who one year ago sat on its national executive council, often minuted offering gracious support to a government and polices. Less than 12 months on, he is now announcing his passion and desire on his new vehicle to power and self-acclaim, telling you he is genuine, fresh and new. He got it done, he is finally a nominee to be a candidate, all he needs now is to convince you that he is sincere so that we can facilitate his ambitions of power. He Got It Done! A message from the Young People of the Barbados Labour Party by Warren Lemon.
