COVID-19 Update: 132 new cases

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 132 new cases of COVID-19 (54 males and 78 females) from the 1,161 tests conducted on Wednesday, December 8.
Of the positive cases, 18 persons were under the age of 18, and 114 were 18 years and older.
Persons in isolation facilities numbered 295, while 1,960 were in home isolation.
Two deaths were recorded on Wednesday. An 80-year-old woman and an 85-year-old man passed away at the Blackman and Gollop Isolation Facility. They were both unvaccinated. As of December 8, there were 246 deaths from the virus.
The public health laboratory has carried out 447,564 tests since February last year and recorded 26,565 cases (12,652 males and 13,913 females) of COVID-19.
Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 154,226 (67.5 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of persons who are fully vaccinated is 138,857 (51.2 per cent of the total population or 60.8 per cent of the eligible population).
