Sagicor donates to Prison Fellowship’s angel tree programme

For the second year running, leading financial services entity Sagicor teamed up with Prison Fellowship Barbados to bring Christmas joy to several children as part of the Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree Programme, which oversees the donation of gifts to the children of inmates.

Under Sagicor’s Project Kindness and 180 Acts of Kindness initiatives, the team was able to wrap and donate 31 gifts for boys and girls of varying ages, handing them over on Friday, December 17th, at Sagicor’s Collymore Rock location.

Patrick Hinkson, general manager, Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean of Sagicor General, said the team was pleased to continue the initiative.

“Christmas is a time for spreading joy and cheer and it takes on even greater significance in this COVID-19 environment. Working with organisations like the Prison Fellowship ensures that we can engage with non-traditional segments of our communities, really making our presence and impact felt even further afar. I hope that we were able to make the Season bright for the little ones.”

In thanking Sagicor for the ongoing support, executive director of Prison Fellowship Barbados, Neil Dowden, said the donation was timely.

“Support like this is needed more than ever, especially as we continue to experience the economic hardships that come with COVID-19. The donation from Sagicor was very helpful and we thank them sincerely on behalf of the Board of Directors of Prison Fellowship Barbados,” he remarked.

Over 400 children will receive gifts as part of the Programme. (PR)
