Court Businessman charged with importing marijuana Barbados Today03/02/20220802 views Businessman Leroy Anderson Orlando Sobers has been accused of importing more than $800 000 worth of marijuana into the island last month. The Prior Park, St James resident is also charged with possession, possession with intent for him or some other person to supply, and trafficking of the 101.85 kilogrammes of the drug, which have an estimated street value of $814 800, on December 30, 2021. The 36-year-old accused who is represented by attorney-at-law Mohia Ma’at was not required to plead to the indictable charges. There were no objections to bail, which was set by Magistrate Manila Renee at $100 000. Sobers secured the sum with two sureties. As part of his bail conditions, he must report to the District ‘D’ Police Station every Friday by 6 p.m. with valid identification. He was also ordered to surrender his travel documents to the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court. Sobers will make his next court appearance on February 15.
