Policemen recognised for service in La Soufriere relief effort

Ten officers of the Barbados Police Service on Monday received top honours from the Regional Security System (RSS).

At a short ceremony at Police Headquarters, RSS medals and letters of commendation were presented to the officers for their “outstanding meritorious service” while serving as members of the RSS contingent in the humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and security related operation in St Vincent and the Grenadines in the aftermath of the eruption of the La Soufriere volcano, from April 15 to June 18.

Station Sergeant  521 Richard Parris, Sergeant 455 Wingrove Headley, Sergeant 619 Paul Mayers, Sergeant (Ag) Kerwin Greene, Constable 1486 Deryck Goodluck, Constable 1529 Charles Mayers, Constable 1772 Sylvester Cummins, Constable 1947 Mario Richards, Constable 2062 Keimar Gibson, and Constable 2150 Jared Headley received the honours from Commissioner of Police Richard Boyce along with his deputy Erwin Boyce and other assistant commissioners.

The RSS noted that the officers demonstrated professionalism, commitment, humanitarianism, compassion, and support as they performed their duties, despite the conditions. (BT/BPS)
