‘Environmental health important’

The local nursing fraternity is encouraging Barbadians to pay more attention to environmental health.

In her World Health Day message on Thursday, president of the Barbados Nurses’ Association (BNA) Valerie Francis-Miller urged residents not to forget the benefits of promoting environmental health.

“As we consider our wonderful planet, let us not forget the benefits that we all can contribute and achieve in promoting environmental health,” Francis-Miller stated.

On a day dedicated to the health of all peoples, the nurses’ representative has suggested reflecting on the things that are needed to maintain personal well-being, while at the same time, motivating others to do likewise.

“Physical exercise, activities for relaxation and thrifty ideas/smart ways for extra income, all assist in enhancing well-being. Regular health checks must not be forgotten,” she pointed out.

Francis-Miller also reminded the public that her association is committed to the advancement of the profession through capacity building, empowerment and advocacy.

She noted that such initiatives are enforced through creating avenues for learning, continuous professional education and socio-economic development. (EJ)
