COVID-19 Update: 192 new positive cases

Barbados recorded 192 new cases of COVID-19; 84 males and 108 females – on Tuesday, May 31. The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted a total of 767 tests.
Of this number, there were 50 persons under the age of 18, and 142 persons 18-years and older.
There are now 43 people in isolation facilities and 1,605 in home isolation.  No deaths were reported yesterday; however, reports from the Coroner’s Office, showed that there were 11 COVID-related deaths that occurred in the community, over the past three weeks.
The total number of COVID-related death is now 461. To date, the public health laboratory has carried out 687, 550 tests since February 2020, and recorded 80, 846 cases (36,912 males and 43, 934 females) of COVID-19.
Under the National Vaccination Programme for the virus, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 162, 400 (71.1 per cent of the eligible population).
The total number of persons who are fully vaccinated is 152,825 (56.4 per cent of the total population, or 66.9 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
