Guilty verdict returned; convict remanded

Randy Jamar Codrington has been found guilty of unlawfully and maliciously inflicting serious bodily harm on another man over 15 years ago.

Jurors who heard the evidence in his trial returned the guilty verdict on the lesser offence on Wednesday but found the Bottom Close, Wildey, St Michael resident not guilty of unlawfully causing serious bodily harm to Xavier Highland with intent to maim, disfigure or disable him or to cause serious bodily harm to him.

The offence was committed on October 15, 2005.

Following the verdict, Codrington, who is represented by attorney-at-law Angella Mitchell-Gittens was remanded to Dodds Prison pending sentencing.

The sentencing phase of his case, which was prosecuted by Senior State Counsel Olivia Davis, will continue before Justice Randall Worrell in the No. 2 Supreme Court on July 18.
