PM Mottley to address BHTA 70th Anniversary AGM

Prime Minister Mia Mottley will deliver the feature address at the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association’s (BHTA) 70th Anniversary Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, June 13.

Themed ‘Tourism: Securing Our Future’, the C&W Business sponsored AGM will be held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC), Two Mile Hill, St. Michael at 10 a.m., and will also feature reports by Chairman of the Association Renée Coppin and CEO Rudy Grant.

Chairman Coppin explained that the 2022 AGM was a significant event in the history of the Association for a number of reasons: “Firstly, our members will have the honour of engaging with Prime Minister Mottley as she shares her vision for the future of this very vital industry in what we expect to be a thought-provoking address.

“Additionally, the meeting also signals the start of our celebrations of an extremely important milestone for the Association. As we mark our 70th year of existence we are even more cognizant of the importance of this industry to the island’s economic survival and the key role the BHTA must continue to play as we rebuild and focus on the sustainable future of this industry and the representation of our members.”

Coppin added that the AGM, which will also facilitate the installation of the new BHTA Board of Directors 2022 – 2023 and feature presentations by sponsor C&W Business and member Bookbarbados.com, will be the first in-person general meeting for the Association since March 2020.

She said, “This will be the first opportunity for our members to reconnect and share their experiences and ideas with each other in one space after what can be deemed the most difficult period in the recent history of our industry and we are definitely looking forward to an interactive and informative meeting.”
