FLOW welcomes interns for summer months

Eighteen tertiary-level students will spend the next eight weeks working with Barbados’ leading telecommunications provider after they were accepted into the highly competitive Flow Vision Summer Student Experience Programme.

In an all-encompassing course, Flow will offer the students invaluable insight into their future careers in the areas of Information Technology, Sales and Marketing, Accounts and Finance, Legal and Regulatory, Human Resources and Corporate Communications.

“After a two-year hiatus we are happy to be restarting our annual internship programme, and all of the students are eager to learn and add value to our operations, and our teams are equally excited to teach them about all the various elements required in keeping Barbados connected,” said Esther Tull, Manager, People Business Partner, Flow Barbados.

The company will also host weekly workshops aimed at providing added insight about the local and regional telecoms sector, while some of the students will also be assigned to C&W Business and Flow Business, the business-to-business arms of C&W Communications.

“Through the interview process, our interns have already demonstrated they have the capacity to excel in a professional and dynamic environment.

They are all bright, intelligent young Barbadians and we are very much looking forward to what the next two months will bring.”

Twenty-one-year-old Matthew Lowe, a final year student at the University of the West Indies who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science and management, said he was looking forward to his time with the company.

“I applied to Flow because it seemed like the best fit for me in terms of what I am currently studying and the profession that I would like to pursue after I leave UWI.

I’ve been assigned to the dispatch department, so I’m looking forward to the experience and working with the team and learning as much as I can,” he said.

As is customary, Flow’s interns will also be tasked with managing a charitable project that leaves a lasting impact on the wider community. In the past, interns have supported the BPW Safe Haven for Women and the Sterling Children’s Home.

This year’s interns are Nalini Cummins, Kristen Sobers, Aliyah Davis, Lasonja Mascoll, Taresha Devonish, Nerys Thorpe, Kie Wilkinson-Padmore, Trenyce Thompson, Kemar Benn, Destiny Cummins, Nicholas Callender, Matthew Lowe, Giselle Richards, Jaide Niles, Arianna Forde, Kaiowa Pile-Durant, Meagan Farley, and Rory Taylor.
