The students of the football programme at St Jude’s Primary School are now much closer to realising their goals. The programme was selected as the September awardee for the CG United Gear Up initiative and received a selection of football gear. Physical education teacher Wayne Williams happily received the donation for St Jude’s. The football programme, which has been in existence for 10 years, caters to students from the surrounding districts of St Jude’s village, Greens, Todd’s Land, Superlative and the environs. They edged out nominations from other schools and clubs for the local leg of the ongoing CG United Gear Up initiative. CG United Insurance Ltd. as part of its sponsorship of the Line & Length Show, is celebrating athletes, organisations and clubs that are making significant contributions to the development of youth in their community through sport. CG United is recognising these contributions by providing selected awardees each month with sporting gear. While making the presentation, Trudy Bellamy of CG United noted that they were excited to assist the school and provide support to the children of this St George community. “As a people-first company, this initiative is part of our commitment to enhance the lives of people within the communities in which we operate. With the Gear Up project, we are focusing on the development of our youth through sports,” she said. Williams thanked CG United for supporting the children and the school with the balls and equipment. “We are very thankful for this donation as these items will greatly assist with the development of our football programme.
