SSA workers back on job after early morning work stoppage

Several workers at the Sanitation Service Authority’s (SSA) Wildey, St Michael depot took part in a work stoppage this morning.
Those scheduled to work the 6 a.m. shift did not drive a stroke when they reported for duty.
Workers explained that there were burning issues to be addressed including violent attacks against loaders and drivers and other union related matters.
They said that after sending notice to management about their decision to terminate their ties with the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW),  union dues were still being deducted from their salaries.
In response, SSA Management called an impromptu meeting and pledged to deal with their concerns urgently.
The workers subsequently resumed their duties. sheriabrathwaite@barbadostoday.bb
