Classes suspended at St Paul’s Primary

Classes have been suspended at the St Paul’s Primary School where a rodent problem was detected yesterday.

Parents and guardians are turning up at the McClean Gap, Brittons Hill, St Michael School to collect their children. Teachers could be seen outside the classrooms huddled in groups.

Barbados TODAY understands that representatives of the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) and Ministry of Education officials are currently at the location.

On Tuesday, classes were interrupted when rodents were sighted in the school hall.

Chairman of the BUT’s Health and Safety Committee Julian Pierre insisted that the school should be closed to facilitate industrial cleaning.
However, the Ministry of Education did not deem the school unfit for teaching.

Chief Education Officer Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw told Barbados TODAY yesterday evening that she was informed the entire school unit was cleaned on Tuesday evening and the vector control unit had put down baiting stations. (AH)
