Barbados’ Tyrese Knight is making waves at the Central American and Caribbean Games. The skilled table tennis player is enjoying a remarkable journey in El Salvador, advancing to the quarter-finals of the Men’s singles event at the 25th edition of the games.

Knight showcased his dominance by defeating Haiti’s Diouley Paul 4-0 in the round of 64, with a commanding score of 11-4, 11-6, 11-2.

As the highest-ranked player from the English-speaking Caribbean, according to World Tennis, Knight continued his impressive performance against Edgardo Sanchez from El Salvador, securing another convincing 4-0 victory with scores of 11-4, 11-5, 11-6, 11-7.

Next up for Knight in the Men’s singles event is a highly anticipated rematch against Cuba’s Jorge Campos in the round of 16, scheduled for Monday.

Knight previously displayed a masterclass performance against Campos in the team’s event, defeating him with a score of 11-6, 11-9, 11-3. However, Cuba went on to win both the men’s and women’s team events.

While Knight excelled in the singles event, Mark-Anthony Dowell from Barbados faced a challenging match against Venezuelan player Carlos Rios, losing 4-0 (7-11, 9-11, 9-11, 7-11) in the round-of-32.

Dowell had previously advanced from the round of 64 with a convincing 4-0 win over Elishaba Johnson from Guyana.
In an exciting development for table tennis fans in the region, the highly anticipated doubles action is set to take place between Guyana and Barbados, two of the top-playing nations in the sport.

Knight will face his regional rival, Shemar Britton from Guyana when he partner with Trevor Farley in the match that includes Christopher Franklin on Sunday (June 25).

In the women’s doubles, the Bajan pair of Krystal Harvey and Anthonette Rilley will compete against the Dominican Republic duo of Eva Brito and Yasiris Ortiz.
