Former Minister and Senator John Williams dies

Former Minister and Senator John Williams has passed away, family members have confirmed.

Williams died on his 74th birthday today at 6 p.m.

Williams, a former Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office from April 2003 to March 2008 has served the country at several levels.

He was a former Ambassador to CARICOM from 2006 to 2008 and represented Barbados at the Association of Caribbean States.

He also served as Chairman of the Administrative General & Professional Service Commission, was a member of the Employment Rights Tribunal and sat on several boards including the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation, the National Initiative for Service Excellence and the Barbados Vocational Training Board.
