St Joseph man accused of indecent assault

A 50-year-old man has been granted $5 000 bail on an indecent assault charge.

Ricardo Knight of Airy Hill, St Joseph appeared before Magistrate Bernadeth John in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court charged with indecently assaulting a female between April 1 and 13, 2022.

He was not required to plead to the indictable
charge.

Objecting to bail, Constable Troy Tudor highlighted the seriousness of the offence and pointed to fears that the accused might interfere with witnesses.

However, Knight’s attorney Angela Mitchell-Gittens SC argued that with the offence allegedly having taken place over a year ago, and with no other charges before the court, there was no evidence the accused would interfere with anyone.

Magistrate Bernadeth John granted Knight the bail with one surety.
