Online classes for Luther Thorne Memorial Primary for rest of term

Students at the Luther Thorne Memorial Primary School will not be in the classroom for the rest of the term.

On Tuesday, following a meeting with parents the previous evening, the Ministry of Education Technological and Vocational Training said that classes for all students will continue to be online until Thursday, the last day of the current term.

The decision came even though the ministry insisted that the majority of the work to be addressed at the school, where teachers and parents complained of environmental problems, had been completed.

The school was closed last Thursday and Friday so remedial work could begin and in-person classes were initially scheduled to resume on Tuesday.

However, during a two-and-a-half virtual meeting on Monday evening, several parents told Deputy Chief Education Officer Joy Adamson that they would not be sending their wards back to the Wildey Road, St Michael school for the remainder of the term. (BT)
