Date set for trial of rape-accused MP

MP Neil Rowe and his attorney, Senior Counsel Michael Lashley in discussion outside the court.

Standing in the dock before Madam Justice Pamela Beckles in Supreme Court No. 5 just after 11 a.m. on Thursday, Rowe denied having intercourse with a woman without her consent, knowing that she did not consent or was reckless as to whether she consented, on September 18, 2022.

He was represented by Senior Counsel Michael Lashley.

Appearing on behalf of the virtual complainant, Senior Counsel Andrew Pilgrim said the woman had indicated that she wanted to continue pursuing the matter.

Justice Beckles set a trial date of June 11. If the hearing cannot take place on that day, Rowe will then return to court for the alternate date of September 24.

He remains on bail.
