Barbados wins three medals at 2024 Caribbean STEM Olympiads

Barbados finished fourth, capturing gold, silver and bronze medals at the second annual Caribbean Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)  Olympiads held January 17-21.
The virtual event featured 131 students from 11 Caribbean countries competing in three categories – the Math Olympiad, Computer Coding Olympiad, and the Robotics Olympiad – at three different age levels (12–15, 16–18 and 19–21).
Barbados’ gold medal was earned in Level III of the Math Olympiad by Team Psi-Kicks, which consisted of Simeon Green, Ian Francis and Tyreke Jones who are currently attending UWI, Cave Hill. The Kolij Robotics Club team of Jovani Gittens, Nathan Nicholls, Tykairi Sargeant and Maliqua Cherubin of Harrison College copped the silver medal in Levell II of the Robotics Olympias with the Plant Care Robot; and Random Walk, a team consisting of Aian Deane Warner and Nalani Chassang who attend Queen’s College, earned the bronze medal in Level II of the Math Olympiad.
