Missing at sea: Darius Cadogan

Darius Cadogan, 21, is reportedly missing at sea after getting into difficulties while swimming at Cobbler’s Cove beach in St Peter just after 9 a.m. on Sunday.

According to police, the Mount Brevitor, St Peter resident went to the beach sometime after 8 a.m. accompanied by three other friends who live in the general area. Witnesses said Cadogan went underwater in the rough currents. He has not resurfaced since.

The Police Marine Unit along with Coast Guard personnel went to the scene but determined that the water was too rough to do an extensive search of the immediate area. However, they joined with police personnel on the beach along with members of the public to search the shoreline. There were no sightings. The search at sea will continue as conditions improve.

A boat owner at the scene had tried to rescue Cadogan. He was unable to do so but managed to rescue a couple of visitors experiencing difficulties at sea around the same time.
