(GP) lmost unnoticed, Superb Blend Gladiola and Wildey recorded the most runs ever scored in a BCA Twenty20 Cup Final as Gladiola triumphed by five wickets with seven balls remaining to retain their title at KMV Oval last Sunday. After winning the toss, Wildey made 171 for five off 20 overs. Gladiola responded with 172 for five in 18.5 overs. The total of 343 surpassed the 332 in the 2022 final when record six-time champions UWI amassed 195 for nine (20 overs) and dismissed Carlton for 137 (19.3 overs) to win by 58 runs at Crab Hill. In last Sunday’s final, opener Zachary McCaskie of Wildey slammed an unbeaten 90 off 64 balls including seven fours and four sixes. The Player of the Match award, however, went to another opener, Rashawn Worrell, the Gladiola left-hander who scored 44 off 42 balls with one four and three sixes. Worrell was fourth out with the score 142 following a 50-run partnership in 6.1 overs with veteran Martin Nurse, who made 33 not out off 26 balls. It was the third T20 Cup title for Gladiola, making them the second most successful team.
