Archives Department closed until further notice

The Department of Archives, located at Black Rock, St Michael, will be closed until further notice, due to the fire which destroyed the two-storey Block D building, along with several records on Monday night.

The closure was announced although the main building where locals and visitors go to do their research was not affected by the blaze.

“The department apologises for any inconvenience this closure may cause and thanks members of the public for their patience and understanding,” a brief statement from the Barbados Government Information Service said.

Meanwhile, the neighouring Animal Control Centre at the Lazaretto, Black Rock, which was temporarily closed after the fire, reopened on Wednesday.
