Haloute: No truth to claims about hurricane damage to Chefette, Warrens

Managing Director of Chefette Restaurants Ryan Haloute.

The roof of the Warrens branch of Chefette is intact and was not damaged during the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

Managing Director of the popular fast food restaurant chain Ryan Haloute confirmed this on Monday after a picture that went viral on social media led to a flurry of rumours that the roof of the establishment was ripped off by the storm-force winds that battered this island.

Speaking to Barbados TODAY earlier in the day, he said there was nothing out of the norm in the photo.

“What persons were seeing in the picture is the front roof and then the roof at the back which has the water tanks and the hoods and other equipment for the kitchen on it. People are accessing the camera that looks at the traffic and saying that ‘oh the roof is off’ but the roof looks normal to us,” he stressed.

When a check of the facility was conducted after the all-clear had been given, he confirmed that the restaurant was fully intact with no structural damage.

“Warrens Chefette is fine. I went there myself. Everything is okay,” Haloute assured while pleading with members of the public to take care before sending out messages that can create alarm.

Dominic Chanderbhan, one of the owners of the IWCP cameras that captured the image, also confirmed there was nothing unusual in the photo.

“There was no difference between how the roof looked on Sunday and today,” he added.
