BMS monitors progress of area of disturbed weather

The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of an area of disturbed weather located near 12N 52W, about 483 miles / 777 km to the east of Barbados at 11:00 AM today, Tuesday 30th July, 2024.

THERE ARE NO WATCHES OR WARNINGS IN EFFECT FOR BARBADOS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM.

Potential Impacts
On its current track, this feature is expected to pass to the north of Barbados around tomorrow, Wednesday 31st July 2024. As a result, no direct impacts are currently expected.

What should you do?
The public is encouraged to monitor the BMS, DEM, and GIS websites, their respective social media pages, and the local media networks for further updates over the coming days.

Discussion
Environmental conditions remain unfavorable for significant development of the system in the coming days, hence, no direct weather impacts are forecast for Barbados. Indirect impacts include a reduction of wind speeds from Tuesday 30th July 2024 through until Thursday 1st August 2024. This will result in warmer days with increased heat stress for Barbadians. In addition, some isolated afternoon showers during this period are also anticipated.
