BCC confirms new Deputy Principal

amuel Bowen, a veteran educator with over two decades of experience, has been confirmed as the new deputy principal of Barbados Community College (BCC), a position he has acted in since April 2023.

The BCC said that Bowen, a former senior tutor in the division of technology, has been overseeing various aspects of the institution’s operations. These include academic staff development, facility management, and programme evaluation.

Bowen’s academic credentials include a bachelor of arts degree in architectural studies with honours and a diploma in education. He also holds a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, which he obtained as a Fulbright Scholar.

During his tenure as acting deputy principal, Bowen focused on maintaining educational standards and promoting innovative teaching methods, the BCC said.

The institution described Bowen as having a collaborative approach and “values steadfast commitment to excellence”, while striving to embody the college’s vision, “to be a world-class centre of excellence in education and training” in service to the community.
