t Mary’s Primary pupils are in for a literary surprise when they return from their summer break, as their school library has received a substantial donation of books from a local business.

The unexpected windfall came courtesy of staff of Goddard Enterprises Ltd (GEL) head office, who organised a book collection drive amongst employees whose children had outgrown their reading materials. The initiative resulted in five boxes of books being presented to the school, encompassing a wide range of genres and reading levels.

The donated collection includes adventure stories from the Hardy Boys series, educational Tell Me Why question-and-answer books, as well as bedtime stories and Bible tales. This diverse selection aims to cater to various age groups and reading preferences within the school.

Maurice Arthur, GEL’s facilities manager, handed over the books to the principal, Grace Wickham, and Anealia Blackman, the early childhood coordinator, on the final day of term. A few curious pupils were also present to catch a glimpse of the new additions

This recent contribution builds upon GEL’s longstanding support for St Mary’s Primary. The company previously donated the school’s library in 2005, which Arthur’s department was responsible for refurbishing.
