Back home: QEH antenatal clinic returns

Chief Operations Officer at QEH Dr Christine Greenidge.

he Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s antenatal clinic will resume operations at its original location within the hospital from Monday, hospital officials have announced.

The clinic, which has been operating from an annexe in 6th Avenue Belleville for the past three years, is set to return to the hospital’s main Martindale’s Road campus.

Dr Christine Greenidge, chief operations officer at QEH, made the announcement during the hospital’s Pulse radio programme. She emphasised the significance of the move: “This is very important. The clinic was relocated because of the need for us to have additional space to accommodate the Accident and Emergency Department (AED) while the renovation at that time was happening.”

With the completion of these works and the AED reopening in its new location, the hospital has been able to refurbish the clinic’s original space.

“Now that the AED has reopened in its new spot it gave us the opportunity to fix where the Antenatal clinic originally was located and then now, being able to relocate that clinic back at the hospital,” Dr Greenidge explained. “It is going to be a lot more convenient for patients and we are looking forward to the operations resuming there next Monday.”

The antenatal clinic provides general gynaecology checks, abnormal pap smears, colposcopy, abnormal menstruation, high-risk pregnancy care, and treatment for pelvic pain, infection, and incontinence. The clinic also handles all general gynaecology and obstetrics matters.

The return of the clinic to the main hospital site is expected to improve accessibility and convenience for patients seeking these essential healthcare services. (SZB)
