42-year-old man will appear in court on Wednesday in connection with a viral video in which a ZR was being driven along Collymore Rock, St Michael “in a manner that caused significant public outcry”, police said.

According to a statement issued by the Barbados Police Service on Tuesday evening, Corey Simmons of #60 Prior Park Terrace, St James will face the magistrate in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court.

He is charged with driving other than on the left, driving without due care and attention, and driving without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road.

The video of the incident last week, which circulated on social media, showed a ZR van approaching the traffic lights at the Lower Collymore Rock-Culloden Road junction. The vehicle then went down the right-hand lane, veered to the left lane behind a line of vehicles to proceed to the junction, and then crossed into a lane of oncoming traffic.

Minister of Transport and Works Santia Bradshaw had described the incident as “dangerous and reckless”.
