Ministry: No tolerance for aggression towards school staff, students

Ministry of Education

he Ministry of Education has declared zero tolerance for any act of aggression towards teachers, support staff and students at the island’s schools.
The declaration comes in response to an incident at the Workman’s Primary School in St George where the relative of a student entered the school compound unannounced and confronted members of staff on Tuesday.
“The ministry does not tolerate any act of aggression towards its teachers, support staff or students, and we ask that any potential grievances be handled in a way that does not cause disruption to the school’s operations,” it said in a statement issued Wednesday evening.
The ministry said work was continuing on implementing a comprehensive safety and security policy to address security issues that occasionally arise at public schools.
“Beyond the deployment of additional resources, there will be clear guidelines for how members of the public are to seek permission to gain access to these compounds,” it outlined.
The ministry urged anyone who may need to visit a school to make an appointment and walk with a form of identification to show upon arrival.
